1-BAHU FORT:4 Km situated on a rock face
on the left bank of the river Tawi, this is
perhaps the oldes fort and the edifice in the
city.Constructed originally by Raja Bahulochan
over 3,000 years ago, the existing fort was
lately improved and built by the Dogra rulers.There
is a temple dedicated to the goddess Kali inside
the fort.Recently a beautiful garden has been
laid and it has a well appointed Cafeteria also.
2-PATNITOP:Altitude 2024 metres, 112
Kms.A peaceful resort with a Cafeteria on Jammu-Srinagar
Natioanl Highway.Patnitophas been developed
into a year round tourist resort with all modern
amenities for the tourists.It is enveloped by
thickly wooded forests, and is perched on a
lovely plateau offering unusual lush green picnic
spots.
3-RAGHUNATH
TEMPLE:0.5 Kms, situated in the heart of
the City (Raghunath Bazar) and surrounded by
a group of other temples, this temple is outstanding
and unique in Northern India.Work was started
by Maharaja Ghulab Singh, the founder of the
present city in 1835 AD, was completed by his
Son Maharaja Ranbir Singh in 1860.The inner
walls of the main temple are covered with gold
sheet on three sides.There are many galleries
with lakhs of saligrams.The surrounding temples
are dedicated to various gods and goddesses
connected with the epic Ramayana.
